Life is 3 dimensional and everything we do, including our chosen profession, in this case music, can be visited from different angles.
Every angle visited, of course, would give you a wider perspective of what it is that you do, thus deepening your understanding of your work, resulting of course in a deeper, maybe better presentation of what you do.
In marketing there is a term called an elevator pitch, which basically means learning how to present yourself in 60 seconds so that the person you are pitching to will get a good clear Idea of what it is that you do.
Often, looking at what we do, only from our view point, as a musician, or composer or teacher gives us a very limiting view of what it is exactly that we do and the world that we are doing it in.
Doctors, for example, often become better doctors after experiencing illness themselves, or having to administrate their own clinics.
Obviously musicians listen to other peoples music,so it would take a little more imagination for them to find that other place that could give them a different perspective on their work and music. David Ryshpan from Settled in Shiping did a post worth reading on his experience presenting music on radio.
Food for thought. And while your at it, if you listen to his radio station, why not make a pledge to help them keep on bringing music to their listeners.
