I assume when you say 'others didn't fare less well' you mean they DID fare less well; right?

He played much the same program in Schenectady on April 23. As far as I was concerned, it was FANTASTIC. The Brazilian things were fascinating, the Liszt was spectacular, and the Chopin was about as poetic as I can imagine. No Schönberg in that recital.

I think Cohen is one of the greatest pianists currently around. I wish I could hear him do the two Gershwin rhapsodies with the Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom this summer!

following letters to be typed in

In olden times, one might look at such programming, and smile indulgently with the foreknowledge that there were recording sessions in the planning. But these days, the 'major' record companies in the USA treat our great orchestras like a sack full of puppies. I can only hope that there will be a broadcast, and subsequent postings on the appropriate binary newsgroups.

Yes. I wanted to write 'didn't fare as well' but slipped.

I don't remember the Liszt very well; I've never heard it before, and, in fact, I've never heard any of the pieces on the first half, even the relatively well-known (I'd have to guess) Schoenberg piece.

But the Schoenberg and the Brazilian composers were indeed very charming. As for the Chopin Preludes, I was impressed by some and but not by all. Oh well. It's me, as usual, no doubt.

I believe so. The only problem is only figuring out when. The WNYC website said that it just broadcast an Anne Queffelec recital at the Frick recently. I'm sorry that I missed that, having seen the good press about her here too
