My piano has developed an audible click over the last couple of days when pressing the keys.

I haven't had it that long and it was stored in a cool room. It is now in a room that is central heated. Could it be that the mechanism is drying out?

The click is as audible as each note played and is very annoying. Please can anyone advise regarding the problem.

Grand? Console? More info is needed to make a more precise determination. Chances are, however, that if the sound wasn't there before, the cause is the sudden environmental change. Did is suddenly get colder or drier? These changes often bring out the worst in pianos. Your technician could help you determine where the noise is coming from and what remedy to prescribe. From this angle anything is possible!
