where can I buy the Clavinova CLP-170 online? Until now I couldn't find any online shop offering me this model. Can somebody help me?

You won't be able to buy one from a reputable dealer online, b/c Yamaha now has established sales territories for its piano dealers. You will have to buy one in your local area, more than likely, or at least be willing to pick it up from whomever you buy it from.

That may be true for the US, but in the UK Clavinovas and top-end Rolands can be bought online or by phone e.g. from Starland in Plymouth - helpful and knowledgable staff and safe delivery [ www.keyboards-direct.com ]. I've now bought a Clavinova 860 and a Roland C-180 organ from them, and can't fault the goods or the service (keen prices, too).

The one possible snag: the instruments have to be self-assembled (easy but needing two people to manoeuvre the pieces into place), but Starland will provide a set-up service (at extra cost, of course) if requhat may be true for the US, but in the UK Clavinovas and top-end Rolands can be bought online or by phone e.g. from Starland in Plymouth - helpful and knowledgable staff and safe delivery [ www.keyboards-direct.com ]. I assume they would also agree to deliver a ready-assembled instrument, at a negotiated charge.

I have no connection with Starland except as a very satisfied customer.

From Belgium, www.pianodepot.com From Germany, www.musicians-gear.com

Go to www.cvpug.com for purchase experience database.

These will come ready for 220, not 110. www.musicians-gear.com will include a converter. Pianodepot will not (I think). So you have to buy the RIGHT transformer or you take a great disk.

Pianodepot will ship the unit to your door. Musicians-gear will only ship to your closet airport. You will have to go to customs, pay the duty, and put it in a large vehicle.

In either case, you will have to set up the unit yourself.

You will probably see a substantial savings of money, if you are in the U.S. However, you are taking a risk. You many get a one year warranty from abroad, but shipping the unit back would be impractical. Make sure you have access to a good keyboard technician.

Buying locally is usually better, but it depends on the situation. You can ask all these questions at the CVUP USERs group.

Good Luck.

I bought my CLP170 roughly a year ago over the net from www.musicalinstrumentmegastore.co.uk - I had no problems as they are an authorised Yamaha dealer - I also checked them out with the local chamber of commerce and Yamaha before proceeding. Their prices are well discounted and delivery was prompt.
