Last night, in a dream, I was playing a chord and haven't had time to look it up, so I was wondering if someone could tell me what chord this is: The notes were Bb, D, and F.

Thanks in advance,

Jeez, Frank, if you're going to dream about music, shoot for something more exotic than a triad, why don't you?

hee hee... Well, the night previous, I dreamed all night long about playing piano, and I was playing stuff in that dream that was utterly amazing!

Wow! Excellent! Thank you!

Are you sure the radio wasn't playing during the dream? I have had similar dreams, playing furiously, but awoke to a pianist's concerto, whose notes coincidentally were identical to the ones I was playing in the dream! Damn that guy for copying me!

Actually, though, I once wrote a song in a dream, woke up, got it down on paper, and it was an original. I will post a link to it someday, when I get a midi of it. This proves one can be musically creative in dreams.

<G> I'm sure. I had a dream several years ago, that I was teaching someone to play guitar. They broke a few strings, but I took the guitar back and began playing the cello solo from 'Dust In The Wind,' but adding lots of trills and classical flourishes. I awoke from the dream utterly stunned by what I had heard. It didn't even matter that I had been the one playing it in the dream. The music itself was just so amazing.... so utterly enchanting...

Oh, I agree! I'm also a part-time writer of short stories, and I'm also working on a novel. I have received ideas in dreams, as well as solutions to writer's block, or difficult situations that my characters have found themselves in. I think Thomas Edison received most of his solutions during his notorious short naps. Mark Twain, as well.

Cheers,

LOL!

Awesome!

I agree. I sometimes think that the most enchanting music comes from the highest planes of the heavens and from the deepest recesses of our being... Maybe it's Creator and Created, bridging the gap. Or maybe music is the primal Logos...

Well, only because your parrots haven't developed opposable thumbs. <G>

I once dreamt that I was playing the b minor fugue from Book One of the Well-Tempered Clavier, and that I got the interpretation of the last couple of lines *exactly* right. I really wish I could remember what I did in the dream to see if it actually made any sense.
