I want a piano but don't have room for an acoustic one. I own a high end stereo with the CD player connected directly to the amplifier, no preamp. The CD player accepts digital inputs, including coaxial S/PDIF, and can sync to different sampling rates. So I'm looking for a keyboard that is as close as possible to the sound and feel of an acoustic piano and has digital outputs. Thus far, I've only found the Kurzweil PC2X to be a good fit. Does anyone know of others?

If you find your choice of keyboard then a good sampler with SPDIF might be an alternative to consider. Samplers go for bargain prices tese days and you can chop and change bewteen piano sounds as often as you like.

Or use a computer with a low-latency soundcard and SPDIF output. If you go the computer route Steinberg's The Grand is a stunningly realistic piano.

Fatar make them.
http://www.studiologic.net/ I'm sure you can get them cheaper than the prices listed there - That page makes them look more expensive than getting a stage piano, albeit you get all the midi bells and whistles I suppose.

They seem to have a questionable reliability from postings / reviews I've seen. That said, some of the digital piano manufs use fatar actions, I don't know if they are identical, if so maybe the reliability issues were for the earlier models?
