Recently picked up the new Albany compatible SACD of Gould's Symphony #3 - terrific piece IMO - and Harris' Symphony #2 of which I thought Paul Snook was unnecessarily dismissive in his Fanfare review - seemed to me quite as good a piece as the 3rd and 5th symphonies.
But puzzled me was a sticker on the shrink wrap that read: 'Caution: DO NOT USE liquid cleaning and/or anti-static solutions on this disc.'
Whuzzup with that? Are hybrid SACD's especially delicate? If I were to get a major sneeze or some Pace's chunky salsa on the playing surface, would an application of Discwasher liquid somehow wipe off the extra data layer(s) which I understand characterize SACD's? Anyone try to clean a SACD and mess it up ????

I've used my standard procedure of mild dishwashing fluid and luke-warm water to clean dirty CDs, DVDs and SACDs. I think the message is precautionary to deter audiophiles from using various magic treatments.

Mother of mercy! Is this the end of green felt-tip pens?

Hope not. I use them to label the printed side of my demo discs to indicate the preferred tracks.
