Not to mention the auction copy is a mono pressing; the recording was made in stereo (1965).

This is true, but the stereo version was not released until much later ... the recording was made in 1954, by the way.

Did you mean to type 1964? Leinsdorf made no Boston Symphony recordings until after he succeeded Munch in autumn 1962.

Oops, I thought this was referring to the Brahms 1st Piano Concerto by Rubinstein/Reiner (another thread that I started!!).
