I'm selling my Ellignton serial number 1291355. I bought it used 5 years ago for about $800 (delivered) as a practice piano because that's all I could afford at that time that was in good condition. It's been 'stored' in my bother's den for the past few years. It hasn't been tuned or regulated for about three years.

The plate has the names ELLINGTON and WICHHAM cast into it. It's in excellent conditon, according to the tech who tuned it for me. The action is fine and stays pretty well regulated. It holds a tune well, with just one or two notes barely out of unison after more than two years. The felts are hardly worn. It's in a very plain fruitwood finish case with an unimpressive vinyl upholstered bench.

I know it's not a great piano... I'd like to know the background and a suggested fair price to sell it at. Thanks for any info you can offer.

Hi,

Check your serial number again...it has too many digits. I'm guessing, but is this a small spinet piano?

Ellington is an economy line built by Baldwin and Wickham is the name of the foundry that made the iron frame.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it's a small spinet piano, with a 34' high soundboard.

I double checked on the numbers. There are numbers in three places.

At the top of the board, just left of center is 1291355. Half way down the frame, towards the right hand side, is 36J2. Near the bottom, left of center is are three 3' horizontal metal bars, stacked one above the other, screwed into the iron frame. The top bar says 96, the middle bar says 3, and the bottom bar says 0.

Does that help identify the piano?
