I've been listening to it for about a week, and think it's terrific. The two orchestras combined make quite an impressive sound, and Gergiev is great as usual. The long 'invasion' sequence in the first movement is really well-done, and the final movement

Is the Wigglesworth afflicted by too-wide dynamic range? The BIS 5th and 10th require constant volume adjustment.

Well I heard him play it live with the Philharmonia a few weeks back and it was a great concert. Gergiev finds a lot of poetry amidst the enslaught.

I am not bothered by the dynamic range, which is huge, but some might be. (Full disclosure: I do like it loud, perhaps more than many people.) Have not heard the BIS 5th and 10th yet.

To my ears the recording accurately duplicates what Wigglesworth did in live performance a few years ago, and he summoned an enormous range then as well. Yes, the soft parts are *extremely* quiet, and yes, if you turn the volume up to be able to hear them, the loud moments will be *quite* loud.

But I guess I don't mind...

Very curious to hear his other recordings, based on the intensity he brings to the 7th. Please comment
