Hi All,

Wondering if there are any great used classical CD stores in the Boston area? Thanks

Orpheus on Comm Avenue with occasional forays into Looney Tunes.

Best one I could find was over near Harvard Square in Cambridge. (Planet??? or something like that).

Is there really any such thing as a 'good CD' store anymore?

In Sydney there are a few. Fish Fine Records, HMV and Angus & Robertson in Pitt Street, and a coupla others. Even in Taree we have Leading Edge, which is not to be sniffed at. If you can't locate a good store in a town/city like Boston, MA, then frankly what hope is left for you <g>

I think that is true. At least HMV and Tower in Shinjuku where I occasionally visit carry good CDs. HMV.co.jp frequently (daily) updates the information in the classical section. Disk Union in Ochanomizu is always busy for used CDs.

Did someone recently say HMV in Cambridge is going to be closed? That store is/was one of better shops around Boston. Tower in Burlington does not have a large floor for classical, but is serviceable though I have not been there for more than two

Planet sometimes has excellent discs and decent prices for used stock, but it's erratic and the selection is not huge. It takes maybe less than 45 minutes to sift through all the booklets in the bin. Orpheus on Commonwealth in Boston is better quality and bigger

Yes, Planet. They have a very good selection and they're nice people too.

Yes, it is closed, and you're right, it was excellent if a bit pricey.

The classical selection at the Burlington Tower has shrunk considerably. It takes up about half of the room that it once filled
