I recently bought a MicroPiano module after reading praises here and on HarmonyCentral. Can anyone suggest how to get the best piano sounds from this module? More specicically:

Does a preamp help?

What speakers or amps sound best with it?

What headphones sound best with it? (I'm now using a set of AKJ K-240s, which usually sound excellent, but give me a lot of fuzzy tones with the MicroPiano. Nothing remotely like the sound on the demo samples I downloaded. Any suggestions? Do you use flat response headphones?)Or are headphones just not going to give me a good sound? (Have the people who disliked it only listened to it through headphones?)

Do particular velocity settings and keyboards seem to work best with the MicroPiano? (I know from playing the S-30, Yamaha's reduced version of the S-80, that the keyboard and velocity responses make a tremendous difference in the sound: couldn't believe they had the same samples.)

Listening to the demos of the MicroPiano, I know it can sound good, The question is how to get the best sound from it.

Thanks.

Spend some $ on the speaker and the unit will sound better. If you're looking to recreate a Steinway, you have to spend more than $300, right? The rest depends on how, what and where you play. I've had the MicroPiano 6 mo. It sounds real good to me for what I do, straight- ahead jazz and blues with small groups. I use it with the P-80 because I don't like the P-80 sounds. I like the sustain piano sound (#6) and usually the velocity is at 4. But that's me. UBU. -R.

Mine sounds fine through a Behringer MX-802A mixer and a pair of Event 20/20BAS powered monitors. I have two Micropianos connected for 64 note polyhony. The only aberration I notice is an unnatural ringing on the notes between Eb above middle C and G or Ab immediately above that. Both Micropianos exhibit this, so I am sure this is common to Micropianos in general. I also have an Alesis Nanopiano. To me, I could not truly say that one sounds 'better' than another. Nonoe of these digital devices is a 'real' piano, but each has its strengths and weaknesses.
