Hi, we were recently given a Hardman Peck & Co. piano that still plays fairly well. Unfortunately, most of the keys are broken at the edges and inspecting the inside I am assuming we will need to do an overhaul on this piano to get it back to great condition. The exterior is in very good shape with a little damage to the bottome veneer on the sides. My wife plays a little and I used to and would like to learn again as well as have our daughter learn when she gets of age. My question is whether it's worth it? It's an upright piano. It was from Liberty Music Shops and there are two sets of serial #'s. The main body has #128681 and the sides have a # of 2708. Can anyone tell us a little about this piano and if it's worth rebuilding and if so would be recommended? I am very handy and can probably do a lot of things myself with parts. Thank you! -M

I found this site fro another person, but thought you might like this link as well. It's a site that offers supplies for self-resoration. http://www.stevespianoservice.com/mcneel.htm

Whether or not it's worth restoring I'm not sure. You could always get a professional assessment first. Asking different companies that offer restorations and getting their opinion would help. Being able to see the piano can sometimes make or break the idea. If it's in good condition I hope you can have it restored. If it's not worth it, I'm sorry.

A professional opinion would help find out for sure, as you don't want to put a lot of work into it, only to find out it's a 1200lbs paperweight.

I'll find the link to the site that offers dates to go with serial numbers in a second.
