How hard is it to play Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op. 23 No. 5? I have been playing for quite about 7 years now, and I am wondering if it would be to hard for me?

Hi there guest!

From a sheer technical point of view, the prelude requires rapid repetition of chords, octaves and accuracy in chordal leaps. It's a very exciting piece to play, the middle section is quite beautiful with interwoven melodies occurring throughout.

To get a better idea, what pieces are you playing currently? Do you feel you play them well? I would place it as more difficult than the C# minor prelude (Op 3 no.2) and D major (Op 23 No. 4).

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
