I have a Roland HP1300e
digital piano. The A key just below middle C now has a very, very loud sound. How can this be repaired?

Sounds like the velocity sensitivity is malfunctioning - no matter whether you play a softly or loudly, the note is the same volume?

If it's hardware based, it's really something a technician would need to look at (or yourself if you're brave). It could be a loose connection. Alternately (but I doubt this) it could be a setting in the piano that you can reset. I not 100% sure of the process to reset the keyboard - have a look in your manual and see if it indicates this.

All the best.

I have the same piano, and have had the same problem with different keys. You have to open the piano up by removing the screws on the bottom and back. The lid is hinged and once you have the screws all out it will open easily. You then have to remove the keyboard screws from the bottom of the piano. Roll the keyboard assembly toward you so it rests on the ends of all the white keys. There are two long circuit boards, each controls half of the keys. Remove all the screws from the circuit board beneath the key that is bad. The loose circuit board will have rubber contact pads for each key. Remove the rubber contact pad over the bad key (each pad covers about 12 key contacts). Once you have the rubber contact pad off, use some electrical contact cleaner and a q-tip to clean the contacts on the underside of the rubber pad and on the contact surface of the circuit board. Put it all back together and it should be as good as new. Sounds difficult but it is really not. It just takes a bit of time since there are so many screws.
