I played a really awful looking piano today (steinway in a "grove park" art case) and the sounds were way more beautiful that the piano was ugly. And believe me, it was ugly... So I was wondering- would you buy a hideous piano because of its sound?

I wouldn't. Look for a piano whose exterior design pleases you as much as its sound. Enjoy the search and you'll find a great piano.
