Does anyone know what the Kawai RX-2A model designation means and if it's different from the RX-2???

Hi fsu1,

The RX series underwent a very minor revision in 1998 (if I remember right), which is when the factory started calling it an 'A.' The distribution side doesn't even pay attention to the letter - it is more for factory reference than anything.

The lid prop hinge was changed from metal to wood, the plate finish was changed slightly, and the hammers were changed slightly (at least for the North American market pianos) to a little softer felt.

It's OK to put your name here, by the way.
