key for upright piano lock

Hi,

I know it's only a small thing but I wonder if anyone has or knows where I can obtain a 'standard pattern key' in order to lock my uprights lid to prevent little hands from being hurt, or the piano being thumped out of tune!?

Paul, if you need a triangular key, (look inside of the lock) email me off-list with your mailing address and I'll send you one. For whatever silly reason, I have two.

Thanks, but the key I need is not a triangular one, it looks like a traditional keyhole shape, with no triangular shape inside.

Hrmmmm... Well, if worse comes to worse, you can unscrew the two screws on either side of the latch mechanism and take the whole thing to a locksmith, or else you can look up the original manufacturer of your piano and order the appropriate key from them.

You could probably get your piano tuner to order it from his parts supplier. I would suggest just letting him (or her) know well in advance of your regular tuning appointment, and that way he can bring it along when he comes to tune. Keep in mind that parts suppliers usually have minimum orders, so let him know ASAP so he can gang it with other needed parts.

I also have a key for it... I could get it cut and send you a copy... email me if you want it...
