I have a Kranich & Bach upright piano with serial number 86141. From the list of years and serial numbers I've seen on bluebookofpianos.com, it looks like this piano was probably manufactured in 1959. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I know it's difficult to put a value to it, but does anyone have a ballpark amount based on your experience? It's in pretty good condition, but it definitely needs to be tuned.

Thanks.

Hi Chuck,

The dates in the bluebook tend to be pretty accurate.

Unfortunately to get a true value it will need a visual appraisal. A piano can look brand spankin' new but if the guts are irrepairable than it's a 1200lb paperweight.

Also, "good" condition can mean very different things to different people.

If a piano needs tuning the big question is this, "Can it hold a tune?"

Because of these variables if someone gives you a "ballpark" value, they're pretty much talking out of their behind.

If you are able to get a value for your piano and can let us know we'd all be interested if you'd keep us informed as to your journey.

Thanks and best wishes,
~B~
