Hot shot jazz piano cats. I'm a total newbie jazz piano student and I've found two ii-V-I 'voicing methods' that seem to appeal to me: Shell and Rootless. I'm also a singer and may do some gigs down the road where I'm solo while others may be with an ensemble. It seems to me that I'd probably need the Shell voicing (i.e. 1-7-3-5 or 1-3-7-9) when I'm accompanying myself, and then the Rootles voicings for ensemble so I don't step on the bass. I just want to get feedback on this before I practice the voicings 10,000 times in 12 keys...LOL Thanks guys.
