Since PBS has abandoned all but a few staid 'name-brands' ('Live from Lincoln Center,' 'Live from the Met,' and, er, uh, what else?) in favor of rock and pop performers beloved by the brainless masses of my loathsome generation, I'm afraid that classical music has true few defenders.
