Something weird is up. I cannot find a review of this CD anywhere on the net (there are only two results when I type it in) and even Naxos's catalogue does not list it. It is Ondrej Lenard and the CSR Symphony Orchestra (Bratislava) playing Tchaikovsky's Francesca di Rimini and Pathétique symphony. Any idea why I cannot find anything about this CD on the net?

Could be it's been discontinued, which would explain why it's not in the catalogue. The fact that it was ignored by reviewers might be why it was cut out. A Google search with the terms ' Ondrej Lenard Pathétique Naxos' indicates that there's a Lenard DVD with the 6th, and that a large number of Naxos' earlier Tchaikovsky recordings have been gathered in a box called 'The Life and Works of Pyotr Il'yich Tchaikovsky.' Anton Wit's version of the 6th appears there.

That could be because both pieces are recorded by Antonni Wit & the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. And, 'yes' they are the same two pieces you are seeking on one disc. Wit's recordings are generally pretty good to excellent.

Best,

Mark Allen Zimmerman * Chicago
