P120 Midi Clock

Is there any way to disable the P120 from sending the timing clock (setting it to external, etc.). The only hint that I could find in the user's manual regarding this was the fact that there is a timing clock message received 'when MIDI clock is set to External'...though I could not find how to do this anywhere.

Are you trying to record what you have saved on the keyboard to computer and save as midi? I have tried doing that and the only way I could do it was to record that output of the audio. The way that I record midi now is not onboard the P-120 but in sonar. This gives me the best control. It's not as easy as pusing the record button on the P-120 but it works.

If you set the time clock on the P120 to 'external,' then you need an external MIDI device, like your computer, to be the MIDI clock master. Otherwise the P120 will just sit there waiting for a MIDI master on the MIDI bus to transmit a MIDI 'Start' and clocks. I don't know what a P120 is, but I can tell you that unless a MIDI device is set to 'external' clock, it would be appropriate for it to send the clocks. It can't send a midi data stream using its own internal clock without sending the clocks, it wouldn't make MIDI sense for it to do that. You don't say why you don't want it to send the clocks, but some device has to be the MIDI clock master, and that device will send the clocks out on the bus.

^^^If I understand him correctly, Knute is off base here. You can't get MIDI by recording audio. Trying to record the audio may get you a WAV file if you are lucky, but it's never going to give you any MIDI data.
