My six year is starting to learn piano? I saw Pearl River 47 inch New one ($3000) and Kawai 48 inch five year old ($3500). Not sure which one to go with? any advice?

Sue, since I have no personal experience with Pearl River pianos I cannot do anything else but refer to what Larry Fine wrote about it in his "The Piano Book" (please click here) that "Pearl River pianos are one step ahead of the other Chinese brands" but also he raises concerns as to how those pianos will behave in the various climates of the U.S.

No real comparison

Kawai is a real piano, pearl river is a knock off.

Try calling local dealers with a piano for sale and tell them you have a pearl river and see what they offer and then do the same with a kawai or yamaha or steinway.

You will see what I mean.

Chinese pianos are really very poor quality, in fact, not too many items from china are very well made. Good people, good food, thats about it.
