I just love Maria Joao Pires playing Bach: DG 447894 with Partita #1, English Suite #3, and French Suite #2. Too bad she only made one CD so far. I started to look at other pianists playing Bach. I listed to Argerich playing a Toccata, Partita #2, and English Suite #2. Admittedly, this listening was done through Tower Records online sampling setup, but Argerich's playing seemed so aggressive and different than Pires. So here's my question. Who should I try next to try to get Bach piano (not harpsichord, not fortepiano) in the same vein as Pires? Please, only currently available CDs.

I do not know. I do not like Schubert's string quartets, so I am not sure I will like his piano music. I need to hear it on the classical radio station before I take the plunge.

But Pires' Mozart sonatas and concertos are wonderful. The web site for the Chamber Orchestra of Europe mentions that she will play more of the concertos this season. It is not stated whether she will record them, however.
