On the soundtrack to 'The Sting;', there is a song called 'Solace'. It actually appears twice on this album. Track 1 is the orchestra version and track 12, the piano version.
I enjoy this song very much and would like to find the sheet music. However, when I searched on-line for it, and listened to a couple of MIDI files, the song sounds very different. I also have a double CD: 'The Complete Rags of Scott Joplin'. The tune called 'Solace' on this album sounds like the MIDI's.
To me it seems that the song on 'The Sting' album is incorrectly called 'Solace'. Is there another name for this song? Where might I find the sheet music for this?
Thanks

The section of 'Solace' on the movie soundtrack is actually the third strain of the original piece. If you listen to the beginning of a MIDI file, it won't sound the same, but if the file is the whole rag, it will get there eventually.

Dear Jim,
The song you're talking about is indeed called 'Solace' and can be found in Scott Joplin's collection of piano rags which must contain about 50 or 60 of his original rags.

Thanks for your replies!
I did go back to my Scott Joplin collection and listen to Solace all the way through.
The version of 'Solace' on 'The Sting' album is only the last part of the original piece.
Thanks again.
