I'm looking for a recording. I believe I want the Stokowski recording. I understand the live concert LSO recording from the early 70s is excellent but I can't seem to find it. What I have found is an EMI disc with Iberia, Nocturnes and the Prelude all recorded in '57 and '58. Anyone have any comments on these? Where can I find the 1972 LSO concert recording? Is it worth looking for? Is the '57 recording on EMI 'just as good?' The notes for that disc say its the LSO playing but is it really?

TIA

I saw this just after making my posting. Anyone care to agree or disagree with Mr. Distler?

I agree with him, although I'm slightly less taken by Ibéria. The Prelude and Clair de Lune are exquisite.
