I played a Fazioli yesterday in a shop in central Copenhagen. First time I played one and the best piano I ever played - no doubt! Having read a bit about Fazioli on this newsgroup I had gotten the impression that the prices were very steep, but this one was only slightly more than a Steinway of the same size. The same went for other Faziolis, so I was a bit surprised about that. Not that I could ever afford one anyway...

Are Faziolis just more expensive in the States, where many RMMP people are from? - because of the needed transport from Europe mainly?

The Copenhagen Conservatoire has two Faziolis and the large concert grand they have was 'only' about $100000.

Opinions?

Same here in France. They are about the same price as the comparably sized Steinways (the 278 model runs for 100-110 kEuro, as would a new 'D'. The difficulty is finding a second-hand Fazioli, as people rarely want to part with them.
