I made a recording recently on my digital piano of a simple piece, albeit one that poses musical problems: Szymanowski's Etude, Op. 33 No. 5, Andante espressivo. It's short at 44 seconds, in WMA format (1.03 M and playable in Windows Media Player. I would appreciate if someone could give me their honest opinion of my playing. I've been trying out a lot of new things, doing my best to play with confidence and to not weigh down my performances with excessive rubato as I have in the past, but at the same time being more sensitive to the composer's writing. I truly want to know if, in your opinion, I have accomplished this.

Well, thank you. I feel better knowing I'm making some headway. But I'm surprised to hear you say you're unfamiliar with Szymanowski. My benchmark in the Op. 33 is Martin Roscoe on Naxos, who you said was one of your tutors,

I didn't realize Dohnanyi wrote two piano concerti! I knew about the B minor.

I'd love to hear Kissin in the Prok 2nd...out of what I've heard of him, I only really liked his Prokofiev 6th sonata from Tokyo. The 2nd concerto is closer in style to that sonata than to the 1st and 3rd concerti, in which I do not like Kissin. I never liked Argerich in the Ravel G major, though. I think Michelangeli and Francois are both in a completely different league.

That means not all people can listen to it. I hope you'll not miss a good answer to your request because of that. There seem to be a lot of people who think that Windows is installed on every PC. It isn't.

If you used MP3, there would be no problem.

Bye, Christof

Very pleasant but alas, too short Sonarrat. But if your aim was to achieve sensitivity , then to my ears you succeeded. Gary.

Worked okay on my WMP. Cant comment on the quality of the playing since anybody who can play better than I can (in other words practically everybody in rmmp) sounds great.
