I received the following response from the Decca web site. At least they replied. When London Records was still around they never replied. They did not even list Ansermet as one of their artists on ther website. No wonder they closed down..

The couresty is nice, but it's not much of a response, is it?

following letters to be typed in

At least they have people writing 'sorry' letters rather than letting queries go completely unanswered. The end result is the same (you don't get what you want), but at least they don't generate as much ill will.

The old London Record site is the subject of fables of old. When Sir Georg Solti, obviously one of their major artists, died suddenly in 1997, they simply ignored it as though it never happened. After that ... but maybe I'll just write to you privately. You will gasp in disbelief.

Hooray! But is that an isolated incident, or their general practice?

I will keep it isolated ... as a good souvenir (Mozart concerto KV 466 with Argerich, and KV 503 with Richter; with Rabinovitch and Bashmet conducting).

occasion.

A while back Mark Stenroos provided some fairly extensive reasons why they can't (or think they can't); you may want to try to find his explanation via google.

I understand that, really I do; but the fact that they don't occasionally rotate some certain *different* items in is very annoying. Particularly when the transfers have already been made, and it's been issued in Japan or Australia ... and it's American repertoire and/or an American orchestra.

Then you probably don't understand the business logistics and economics of CD production. Or are you willing to pay $30 to $40 per CD?

Huh? How is that?

Only in the rarest circumstances.
