Tauber fans will also probably want to know that his Barter Bride is again available, this time on SOMM Beecham 14-2 (2 discs). The previous incarnation (STANDING ROOM ONLY 830), at least the two copies I tried, had editing breakdwon (clicks) and lots of noise from worn records.

The SOMM issue is from the same source (78's taken from what I think was an optical film track original for Beecham's private collection) and filtered down to hide most of the imperfections, but what a lovely performance!

May I add that the Björling transfers are also very fine, and convey certain aspects of the voice better than the EMIs, namely that incomparable pearly colour...
