Are you sure those used instruments are fit for the European climate? I heard that Yamaha (a.o.) produces different instruments for Japan, W-Europe and USA. Temperature, humidity, etc. are very different and so is the sound board and other material.

And the Easter Bunny is blue, and Santa really *does* fit down the chimney. This is a story created by Yamaha to combat the competition from their own pianos once used. Nothing more, nothing less.

Then alluva sudden da house starts to shudder. Some nut's on da roof and he broke da rain gutter. He jumps down the chiminey and swears cause it's tight. He lands in da fireplace scorching his hair on A busted up orange crate still burning in nere. He climbs outta da fireplace and I take a look He's just like they show him in my coloring book. With vodka-glazed eyes and a stomach like bubble, A five-day-old beard and dere's soot on his stubble. His teeth when he smile look like Grampa's weed-saw. He wears tennis shoes big as grizzly bear's paw.

Actually after talking to my good friend Tom, I would not buy one of these pianos unless it has been rebuilt. I would also not buy a used piano from the Northeast like Boston.
According to him the Northwest is a great place to find a Used piano because there is not the drastic climatic changes as in other parts of the country. We recently went and looked at a beautiful 9' Knabe together and the original pin block that is over 80 years old is in good condition as well as the sound board.
There is a company that sells pianos on ebay only that imports these pianos and has them completely rebuilt. From all the feed back on the web site it looks like people are very happy with their rebuilds.

It is said that owner feedback was also very favorable towards the sparrows that Colonel Tom Parker had painted yellow and sold as canaries earlier that day <g>.

I am not sure what your point is? I can only deduct that it's one of the following.
1. Rebuilt japanese pianos are junk.

2. Owner Feedback is useless.

This has come up many times in the past, but I'll say it again. The climate problem is the indoor climate, not the outdoor. In the US, we have central heat and air conditioning which causes huge swings in humidity indoors. The temperature changes very little, but the humidity changes drastically. Unless you go to arctic/tropic extremes, the temperature doesn't matter anyway except as it controls humidity. Other parts of the world have different heating cooling customs and different needs in pianos.
