should I keep the original ivory keys on my 1913 stark upright piano?

As long as it doesn't bother you that they're ivory then there isn't any reason to have them replaced. It's an antique. It's not like they're modern.

I have a vintage purse from 1960, before the ban on ivory come in, and it's made of elephant hide. It's a controversial item to say the least.

Would I buy one now? Not even if hell froze over. Vintage items are up to the conscience of the individual, and no should dictate to you what you are to do. If you like them, then keep them.
