...Mickey Gilley, that is. My favorite Honky-Tonk pi-aner player. He has a really good show up in Branson (up, relative to where I am of course).

There was only two things wrong with the show:

(1) the audience could not sustain clappin' stompin' and Yee-hahing during the fast tunes, *even* during one of the hottest Orange Blossom Specials I've ever heard. (median age: 65, most of whom could not have possibly have really looked for love in all of the wrong places that Mickey was singing about; not sayin' I have or anything... )

(2) the IMAG shots of his hands (via a camera attached at the end of the piano) were 'slowed down', somewhat like video streaming on a computer

Pretty common. People are always commenting on the fact that I use my left foot on the pedal. I do it out of habit, because I always had other pedals lying in the floor that had to be used too, so you just sort of get used to swapping feet depending on where things are sitting. And of course, as you said, it lets the performer turn toward the audience.
