hello all i am looking for spares for a friend's square grand it is a J. C. Barnes serial # 1181 circa 1859-1860 the spares in question are action parts such as, hammers, a jack or two, a few dampers, etc. the possibility of removing the action for kindling and replacing it with a keyboard is also very high while i am still an apprentice (3+ yrs and learning ) i do know eonught of square grands to stear clear of them. i seek info on the parts for this piano because the owner is a friend and a civil war buff ( the piano case looks wonderful, it is the guts that are 'junky' also if any of you have experience placing keyboards in old cases such as square grands or old english piano's or the like, please contact me or let me know how to contact you thank you

Either Story & Clark or QRS (same company) had some kind of kit a couple years ago for installing a keyboard into a square. Maybe they still have it. I'm pretty sure there is a website, but you'll have to do a search. I don't remember the URL.

As far as spare parts for your friend's old square..................*
