Anyone heard of a technique called 'straddle' for playing right hand chords? Mostly used for popular music, as far as I know.

I think the idea is, say, to 'flesh out' a right hand C chord triad.

Instead of playing C-E-G, play inversions up and down the keyboard but miss out or 'straddle' the middle note:

C-G,E-C,G-E,C-G,E-C etc.

Anyone use this technique?

I've heard of 'stride' piano, but that's a jazz style that Adam Bravo et al probably know better than me.

Straddle sounds like it has cool potential

Aw come on, Stride is the style of Fats Waller. I don't think I would generally describe him as jazz. Not that I don't like his stuff. This Straddle thing seems to be just a common way of voicing a chord. I don't think I know the term, though.

Frank, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, go to www.amazon.com and type Fats Waller into the search field. There are music clips from most of the recordings amazon sells.
