Alapage France lists in the Sony GRAND REPORTOIRE series a Sibelius 2 cd with Cleveland. What is this? Studio? Live in Japan? I can't find clarification in Google. Hopefully, this link will work.
http://www.alapage.com/mx/?id=291471034261553& donnee_appel=ALAPAGE&tp...

I'd like to order Walter's mono Brahms cycle from them, but am having trouble getting my order any larger than 3 cds. Any items in France that I shouldn't let pass? Hm- maybe those new Tahra releases, if I can remember them.

Are the mono Walter Brahms cds available anywhere else?

Thanks for any help.

The verso of the cover says it's the Tokyo 1970 performance. So this is a good way to obtain this spectacular recording.

Good luck getting the mono Walter discs. I ordered both but only received the disc with 1 & 2 on it. The other one was out of stock.

Ordering it directly from the Cleveland Orchestra benefits the orchestra itself, so I would suggest that's a better way. ;

This may be of interest:

For a year now I have had my own reissues project going under the title of Idlewild Reissues and notify subscribers each month of the new releases. These are all transfers I have done myself from LPs to CDRs that the majors have seen fit not to reissue. I sell them for $6.50 per disc including mailing which basically just covers the cost of the materials.

I have basically concentrated on Walter and Beecham but have plans for some Reiner and Ormandy. Here's a complete list of titles to date:

IDLR 101: Brahms Symphony #1, Tragic & Academic Overtures. Bruno Walter/NYPO Cost: $6.50

IDLR 102: Schubert Symphonies #1 & #2; Mendelssohn Hebrides & Ruy Blas Overtures. Beecham/RPO Cost: $6.50

IDLR 103: Brahms Symphonies #2 & #3. Bruno Walter/NYPO Cost $6.50

IDLR 104: Goldmark Rustic Wedding Symphony; Dvorak Symphonic Variations. Beecham/RPO Cost $6.50

IDLR 105: Brahms Symphony #4 and Haydn Variations. Bruno Walter/NYPO Cost: $6.50

IDLR 106: Berlioz: Te Deum & Overtures. Beecham/RPO Cost $6.50

IDLR 107: Beethoven: Symphonies 1 & 3. Walter/NYPO. Cost $6.50

IDLR 108: Haydn's Symphonies 93, 94 Surprise' and 103 'Drum Roll'. Beecham/RPO Cost $6.50

IDLR 109: Beethoven: Symphonies 2 & 4 Walter/NYPO. Cost $6.50

IDLR 110: Wagner: Der Fliegende Hollander Overture; Meistersinger: Prelude to Act 3, Dance of the Apprentices & Entrance of the Meistersingers; Gotterdammerung: Siegfried's Rhine Journey and Funeral Music; Good Friday Music from Parsifal. Beecham/RPO. Cost $6.50

IDLR 111: Beethoven: Symphonies 5 & 6 Walter/NYPO & Philadelphia Orch. Cost

I am not an entirely disinterested party, since John is a good friend. But I will say that I have heard his transfers of out-of-print, out-of-copyright mono recordings, and they are exemplary. It's the only way we're going to get Beecham's recording of, say, the Berlioz Te Deum until the much-needed regime change happens at Sony ... and maybe long after then, too.

I e-mailed the Cleveland Orchestra last year about that specific recording; I was told they do not sell it.
