Frank's post reminded me:
How do I acquire the skill of being able to talk and play at the same time? I know it's useful in a lot of situations, but either my playing or my talking gets all messed up. Even when somebody talks to me, I'll get lost in the tune when it's a bass or drum solo (no bass player laying down the changes). Do I just have to sit and talk to myself when practicing?

This just happens to be one of my skills. I don't know how I do it, but I can play and carry on multiple conversations. Perhaps it is because of the many voices and personalities I hear all of the time in my head? Damion Bertram, pianist, conductor
