Today is the end of an era, the closing of APSCO (American Piano Supply Company). APSCO was recently bought out by Schaff Piano Supply, and the property they were on was leased, but has now been sold. Today pink slips went out to most of the 50 or so employees that were there and now, like most of you techs out there, I will have to mail order my tools and supplies because there is no longer a local counter to shop at. I am sad to see it end, and inconvenienced, but mostly sad. For the past 4 years I rented space from APSCO to run my shop in and I've made several friends that worked next door and I'll miss them, especially Randy in shipping. I guess all things come to an end, and this is no different. Maybe someone else will start a supply company nearby to serve the tri state area, until then I guess I'll just have to raise my rates to cover shipping and push back all my deadlines a bit.

I can't believe it. I just got my last shipment in few days ago from them. Can we still order from them through the Schaff company or they canned the whole thing?

Hi Rich,

I'm sorry to hear that American Piano Supply is history. What did they do with all the inventory? Where are we going to get all those hard to find screws now?

Are you having to move your shop also?

I'm actually in the process of moving my shop to Springfield NJ right now. And yes it's because the property was sold. And as for those screws, they've been sold as scrap metal, or at least some of them have. I think it's safe to say you can toss that APSCO catalog out the window and replace it with a signifigantly less complete Schaff one. No more hard to find outdated screws or Aeolean case parts or action frames or bench legs or blank baby grand lids etc. etc. It's a huge drag, bummer even.
