What do people here think of the Thielemann Alpine Symphony & Rosenkavalier suites disc?

No comments after googling. Is it that inconsequential, given the

Haven't heard. I've read mostly favorable to enthusiastic comments and reviews for it...the more casual ones stating that this is the Thielemann disc to have. That said, these works are well-represented. To name a few...Reiner, HvK, Kempe for both, and Previn (VPO) and Mehta (LAPO) for Alpine.

My personal preference is Kempe(EMI)...and by the way I just noticed that Berkshire is offereing is offering those three disk Kempe Strauss boxes at a very nice price. They are long out of print here in the US.

Compliment. Considerably better, according to them.

I have no urge to seek others. I'll be staying with Mehta for Alpine, and HvK for Rosenkavalier.

It was discussed a couple of years ago.

Only in the 3 disk format; the 9 CD EMI Kempe Strauss box is easily available.

My favorite for the Alpine is still the Haitink and the Concertgebouw. But, I also have:

Blomstedt/San Francisco Symph. Mehta/Berlin Philharmonic. I just think that Haitink projects the scale and grandeur of the piece better.

Best,

Wouldn't that have been something? Incidentally, is there another CSO recording of Alpine other than Barenboim's?

Mine too. It's fabulous and also long out of print, unfortunately.
