Don't panic, I'm not sufficiently pretentious to try and learn it, but has anyone come across good (i.e. as close to the original as possible) transcriptions both of the Organ work and an arrangement for Piano? If you have, could you give me the details of the work including any identification numbers or anything.

thankyou to any and or all respondees (is that a word?)

thankyou

Al

The only one I know is Bach's. Why? are there others worth looking at?

Busoin transcribed it for piano. It is available in a work published by Dover of Busoni's transcriptions of Bach organ works.

This is another VERY frequently transcribed piece. I know of printed piano arrangements by

* Tausig * Busoni (in a Dover book) * Grainger (based on the above two, notated by Leslie Howard) * Brassin * Friedman * Reger * Sandor There's a few more whose transcriber's names I've forgotten, and probably even more I haven't heard about it.

Al, what would stop you from looking at the original? I learned it. It's a fun piece to play. I have the big Schweitzer edition of the organ score.

Lack of talent and ability. I'm hoping to use it as a sort of reference, a piece to keep coming back to to keep track of where I'm up to as it were. I also think it could be useful in terms of soloing, it should give some good ideas of how to get around the keyboard quickly and accurately... plus, when I pass my test I'm hoping to get back out on the band scene, and if I can blag a solo spot during a concert, an arrangement of this should blow the punters away... I mean, I have a three synth rig... imagine what fun I can have

Plus, my dad has an electric 'church' organ downstairs... the possibilities are endless for neighboural annoyance

Diesel engine ? Would you play on a plastic spinet ?

Martin, whoever goes all the way with a BMW, would not compromise for a Diesel engine, just to save on fuel. BMW is a cult car.

BMW uber alles !

Alfreds has a very nice edition for piano, much easier to read than the one at Sheet Music Archive, edited by Maurice Hinson.

There was a time, I believe, that BMW imported diesels into the US. That time is fortunately long past.
