With the online swapping of songs growing at a crippling rate, the CD is being rethought, repackaged and, in some cases, repriced.

The problem with this is that it assumes that people with large classical libraries will be ripping them into MP3 and sharing them on Kazaa 24/7, which is ridiculous, because the type of people that collect hundreds or thousands of classical CDs will be listening to them on their stereo systems, and I guarantee you that they never have ripped a single CD >> MP3 in their lives. This is just more scare-tactics by the recording industry to gouge us more!

I'll have to disagree with that statement as I've seen a few regular posters here (i.e., serious collectors) make mention of alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.classical and point to specific works they've posted there.

Indeed....I've never posted, but I DL from there often (and that often leads to a purchase) and I usually tons of personally ripped Mp3s on hand (my old drive with them died, and I need a new drive...)

Of course, I also don't use a stero, but rather headphones...
