Upcoming releases of Arabella, Helen and Intermezzo?

Hi,

Is there a way to know whether a new recording of given piece is going to be released soon? I'm waiting for modern (DDD) and good interpretations of R.Strauss'Arabella, Helen in Egypt and Intermezzo, and wonder whether there are some in the pipeline?

Considering the present state of the industry, almost certainly not.

Leon Botstein's recent Helena (with Voigt in the title role) was recorded recently - live - so we should see that soon (Telarc).

Also (weirdly), see: http://classicalcdreview.com/rseh.htm for a recent recording of he same opera. (Apparently rather good.)

As for the others, I'm not sure.

I can't really help you, because I consider the legend DDD a warming that I'm probably not going to like the performance (not because of the sound but because of the date, not that I've ever heard a digital recording that sounded as good as some analog recordings), but I wish you could at least be persuaded to give one of the Arabella's with Lisa della Casa a listen. I have six recordings of Arabella, and they all feature Della Casa, Gueden, or both, but I'm still looking for a couple of other Della Casa performances of the title role. I know this is insane, but I can't help it.
