I have the opportunity to buy a 4.5 year old Yamaha C1 for UK £7,500. It has been regularly tuned and appears to be in excellent condition.

Is this a good price?

What level of skill does one need to appreciate a C1?

No, that's exceedingly expensive for a C1, they list brand new in the UK for about ~£9.5k. Meaning any piano dealer worth it's salt would give you 20% off that if you were going to buy.

You should be able to get a new C2 for just a tad more than that C1 is going for if you shop around and ask for discounts.

Martin is right. There is another thread here currently about 20% off Yamahas... check it out.

Thank you Mark and Martin.

I can't make much sense of the 20% off the U1 thread. There seems to be no absolute price given.

I'm happy that you've saved me lots of money. Disappointed because it was a nice piano. (Not that I would really know, because it's a present).

Do you have an idea what I should offer?
