I am in the background all the time I just look at the headers have not got time to read as much as I would like.
Most are rubbish but they have nice cases and that is what sells
Well you would only be getting your own back after all them Birdcages we sent over in the 70's 80's
Well Johann Christoph Zumpe was the first mass producer in England c1760 he made the piano popular in Europe not many of them around now he was to the piano what Hover was to the vacuum cleaner in is hay day. But in 100 years you will say Hover don't you mean Dyson ! soon forgot. Then you had Kirkman who made pianos c1742
As for Collard he worked for Clementi but as usual he got the company by marring Just like Broadwood and Kirkman who worked for Table BTW they all can be traced back to Silberman who read Mafrei's article on Cristofori's piano and took over where Cristofori left off. Now if the Germans did not have the Severn Year war and the French did not like chopping heads off The piano industry probably would have been small in England like it is today
BTW remember the Bechstein Grand with the 7 cracks we did not do that one but we did not have to wait long this one had 2 cracks in the frame I will post some photos of the stitching, works well the piano was pulled up from 0 to *A445 in 20 mins and all was OK now back down to A440 and stableish
* A change of underwear was keep to hand just in case.
Take care
