WHAT IS THE RIGHT FOOT PEDAL CALLED? WHAT IS ITS FUNCTION?

It's called the Damper pedal - or the sustain pedal. Pressing the pedal down lifts all the dampers off the strings allowing them to vibrate freely. When you press down a key, the corresponding note will continue to sound even after you release the note.

It is incorrectly called the 'loud' pedal.
