Dvorak 9th performed by:

Kertesz/VPO and Arthur Fiedler & BSO?

Are they available through any on-line source?

TIA

For the Fiedler try:

It showed up in their catalog.

Should be easily obtainable from a Japanese source. I got mine from deodeo about a year ago.

Was issued in the USA in the Papillon series, I believe. Long OOP.

A dandy. Outside of the expensive Japan option, keep an eye on the 'previously-enjoyed' bins for the Decca Weekend Classics issue. A shame this hasn't been issued in the Eloquence or Decca Legends series.

As a stopgap maybe, but the 952 yen Japanese issue has substantially better sound than the Weekend issue. Deodeo will sell you the better one for about $12, well worth it IMO.

Very true. It has been my single favorite New World for 30+ years.

The box includes the later LSO recording. MIFrost is asking about the earlier VPO recording.

Hmm. I've heard conflicting reports about the sonic improvement. Some, such as yourself, think there's a significant difference. Others have advised me that there's almost no difference at all. Any other opinions?

I've not heard the LSO recording, but everyone seems the VPO one is significantly better.

The box of Kertesz has the LSO 9, not the superior VPO.

Decca issued two distinct Dvorak sets with Kertesz. In addition to the earlier all LSO set, the all VPO set is 430773-2 and includes three overtures on five CDs. bvs

Um, no. The latter - which is four, not five, CDs - is Kertesz's generally undistinguished box of Schubert symphonies.
