Yes. This was my first Furtwangler Brahms 4 (BPO, 24 October 1948) and I like it very much. So, I highly recommend it to you. The finale will fully justify what is being written redently in the rmcr. Be sure!

The Fourth in this set is very good (it is from 1948). There is a 1943 performance with a bit more intensity, a real edge to it, but frankly the differences are not major, and the sound of the 1948 is certainly better. I think you'll find the 1948 in the EMI set to fully justify its reputation. Henry Fogel

If you're primarily interested in the 4th, I would get the EMI. I prefer the 3rd and 4th symphonies from this set to the rival Music and Arts versions.

The EMI timings are very similar; it's credited as from the Titania-Palast, Berlin, recorded live on 10/24/48.

I have both, with '43 version on Tahra, and I must say that the sound of the '43 version is clearlly superior to my ear: with richer and warmer sonority (esp. in the lower strings), more presence and better definition of various orchestral sections. Of course, there is a hum in the Finale which no remastering could eliminate, but it is quickly masked by the music.
