The city I live in has only one yamaha dealer, the price they gave me on a brand new YAMAHA GH1B 5'3' ebony high gloss grand piano is $9000 + shipping + tax. Is it a reasonalbe price?

Plus shipping? Is this the four door model or the convertible?

^^^^^^^^

You mean the dealer's price doesn't include local delivery? Wow!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll find a vase that looks lovely on your new piano, and it will certainly dress up your living room.

Shipping is about $125. They told me it's a brand new and is still in the box. The total cost would be ($9000 + shipping $125) * 1.07 tax = somewhere around $9770.

I noticed that all the pianos have at the left side of the keyboard a rectangular block which is perfectly suited for a cup of coffee or an ashtray. My piano has even a built-in oval metalic coaster for the coffee cup (with the inscription 'Imperial Scale'.

I forgot to add < in my best Joan Crawford voice>

Nostradu, wouldn't you be afraid that your pet raven or one of you children would knock the sticky, scalding liquid inside your piano and destroy it? Just curious.

My heart aches every month when I get the current edition of Architectural Digest and I see picture after picture of showcase living rooms and parlors with the obligatory Steinway 'S' in the corner covered with picture frames and vases.

I used to dash off angry letters-to-the-editor, but since I never got any response, I just assumed they dismissed me as a kook.

It happened a lot of times. Coffe , orange juice, cola . All of them abundantly on my keyboard. The computer keyboard. At the piano, only once, almost no dammage. In fact, in one of the 'practice tips' I read, it was recommended to take often a break; 'but don't hit the coffe machine during your break' the author wrote, so I took it as a recommendation to have the coffee near the piano.

I'm very 'pis*ed off' today. I had a lot of work to do, did not sleep the other night, so I could not practice today. So I'll punish myself by setting a limit of 20 posts at this session.
