Is anyone else bothered by what seems like a high-pitched distortion in the Yamaha P200 acoustic piano sounds? It's starting to really get on my nerves. I'm sure my instrument is not faulty because I can hear it on others' P200s too, exactly the same. The noise has always been there (I've owned it for several years, from new) and it didn't bother me at first but now it's really grating on me.

Has anyone else experienced this sensation with the P200? It's almost as though there was a thin piece of wire loose in among the strings when they did the sampling - that's the best way I can find to describe it. But presumably it's an electronic artefact, some kind of quantization or aliasing issue. Maybe it could be filtered out somehow?

This is really bugging me because I really, really love this instrument - but now my ears have 'tuned in' to this distortion it seems to be all I can hear... Help!

Thanks a lot

This has been discussed to death, starting with the P-80. Apparently, it's an artifact of the piano they used to make the samples. Also, it's supposedly a desirable characteristic of the real piano that for some reason does not translate well to the digital piano.

Lately, I just use my P-80 as a controller to a set of Boesendorfer samples in an Alesis keyboard....
